This is an antique C1880 19thC New England Knife Box in authentic original Old Gray milk Paint. The paint has a very nice dull dry surface and the box has good wear and patina. It has tiny round nail construction all nailed together with a nicely arched tombstone shaped handle.

A thin layer of the wooden base has peeled away as shown with part remaining that is painted. The base of the box consists of two layers of wood with the interior layer pretty much intact except for two age splits near one side edge and another in the middle. But the box base is not loose or in any danger of being loose as it is tightly nailed on.

The knife box measures 12" long, 9" wide, 3" tall at the sides and 5" tall including the handle.
