This is a C1860-70 Primitive New England Knife Box or carrier in wonderful early Windsor Green Milk Paint with a nice dull dry surface and brush strokes to the paint that I always like to see. The box is all square nailed with little T-head square nails and has all the appropriate wear and patina. A good New England piece.

The handle section is not solidly tight and it is not loose either, just a little wiggly. It has a great early color in early milk paint and all the appropriate wear and patina. You will notice that the sides are canted, the base is unpainted, interior painted and the box has a primitively cut out handle. The painted surface has a dull dry feel to it with the size of a slightly larger in nature to hold your collections or displays.

The knife box measures 16" long, 11" wide 4" tall at the sides, and about 5" overall height including the handle.
