This is a 19thC Antique New England Wood Bowl in Blue Milk Paint. The paint almost is a blue-gray in appearance depending upon the light source. This is a medium size bowl measuring 14" to 14 1/2" and about 3 1/2" to 4" tall, and is out of round from age and shrinkage. Due to age, it has a light in weight feel to it for its size.

The blue milk paint is all original and has a nice dull dry surface to it. The original blue milk paint is worn in places creating nice smooth wear and patina. All lathe turned, this blow probably was turned near the exterior edge of the tree accounting for the flat section to the rim.

Also the bowl has ll the appropriate wear one would find on a 19thC bowl. There is a 2" age line from the rim appearing to the interior and exterior of the rim (which can be viewed in the interior photo at the 3 o'clock position). The paint was thinly applied and now worn to a dull dry sheen.

The interior as well has appropriate signs of use, age and chopping. Wooden bowls in old blue milk paint are always popular with anyone assembling a collection of American Country.
