This is a 19thC New England Wood Bowl in Bittersweet over Salmon Milk Paint dating to the mid 1800's, and measures 15 1/2 - 15 3/4"" diameter and 4 1/2" tall. This is a really wonderful bowl in great color. The bittersweet milk paint is over an earlier salmon color milk paint seen here and there peeking through where the bittersweet has worn.

The bowl has a light feel compared to the dimensions all due to the aging of the wood. In fact the bowl is a little out of round as it should be. There is very nice age wear and patina to the exterior paint and the bowl interior. The bowl shows lots of signs that it was used for chopping and cutting.

Please note that the exterior base has a tight age split that just barely goes through to the inside and is nice and stable. And going along the exterior is a 1/2" to 5/8" molded rim.

This bowl has a drilled hole and twine so it can be hung up. The color is great!
