This is a C1850 Brown Calico One Patch Doll Quilt in wonderful brown calico/madder prints in an interesting variety. The cotton doll quilt is all hand stitched and hand pieced with tiny stitches, has straight row cross hatch quilting throughout, and has a thin layer of batting between the two layers of cotton top and backing.

It has the original narrow binding, no rips tears or holes, wonderful naturally dyed fabrics, and is beautifully stitched, One of the earlier solid brown fabrics has some age holes from the disintegrating dye mordant. The backing is cotton with a tan stain to one quadrant. interestingly, there is one (an original piece) aqua colored fabric which adds a nice touch. The doll quilt measures 19 1/2" x 20" and is a wonderful interesting doll quilt with early fabrics. Just studying the fabrics is fascinating.
