| This is a 19thC Small Bail Handle Firkin in Green Milk Paint that is a great
size for the top or near the top of a stack of firkins. It is the largest size
in the wire bail handle firkins.
It is an early firkin in Windsor green milk
paint with a nice very dull dry original grungy surface. The lap bands are
fastened with copper tacks, there are no cracks or splits with solid
construction, the base is painted with a dry clean interior, and there are great
brush strokes that I like to see in authentic original paint. There is nice
aging to the patina with the early milk paint over an earlier gray or green.
A
piece is missing from the lid band happening a long, long time ago. Two tips of
the lap band may have also happened long ago.
The firkin measures 7 1/4"
diameter to the top lid, 8" diameter to the base and it is 7 1/2" tall.
This is
a very nice small firkin.
