This is a C1860-80 Windsor Plank Footstool with original Hooked Rug Mat covering. The old authentic and original hooked mat was made for the footstool and is not a cut down from another hooked rug, and the hooked mat has always been on the footstool (the dimensions fit exactly.

Traces of old authentic red paint can be found under the plank, and there are no repairs. There is some minor loss to the fabulous floral design with little impact on the folky primitive quality of the stylized flowers and "hit or miss" background design. The footstool measures 14" long, 8" wide and 7" tall.

So it is a Small footstool to be positioned beside the bed or at the foot of a chair to place your feet on for comfort. Authentic hooked rug covered footstools are very hard to find particularly one in this great condition.
